If you grew up with Sesame Street you may remember the song A NEW WAY TO WALK, WALK.
“I was feeling low, I was kinda blue
But that’s all gone since I got something new
I got a new way to walk (Walk, walk)”

One of the best things you can do for your body and your head is to walk…in the rain, snow, fog, up the mountain, down the hill. Barefoot on the grass, in the sand, on the trails. Splash in the puddles and the ocean.
If your feet and legs are in good shape every day is a perfect day to walk. We’ve somehow forgotten how good nature can make us feel. It’s OK to feel
the cold, warm, or wet of nature. And if it really is dangerous weather then walk inside.
Your walk should not be boring and if it is try some of these suggestions drawn by Bonnie Prudden for her first ever book Basic Exercise No I in 1956.

When Bonnie had her week long fitness workshops she asked everyone to bring a hat to class one day. A funny thing happened when you donned your
hat to walk across the floor to music. You became and walked like your hat suggested whether it was a cowboy, policeman, pretty young woman, baseball player, drunk, movie star or swimmer…or a towel or pillowcase wrap if you forgot your hat.
If it’s been awhile since you ran, skipped or jumped, put some music on, hold on to the back of the chair and give it a try. To skip, jump and run are
wonderful feelings and if you still can….keep on.

Enjoy your new walk, walk.
